  • Well-structured curriculum
  • Q&A hub
Negatives
  • Not a big choice of courses and programs

About the Company

This is an online e-learning provider focused solely on teaching data-related subjects. The company has recently launched released new course structure and content. Right now they have two types of learning programs, single courses and long programs (series of courses).

The company is located in Sofia, Bulgaria. The founder is Nedko Krastev who worked previously as Financial Analyst at Coca-Cola. He also guides 365 Data Science a few courses and has quite popular courses on Udemy.

Right now, the company offers 37 courses and 3 career tracks (longer programs).

Main Features of this Provider

  1. The company has a single focus and covers only data-related topics.
  2. All the courses are grouped into 4 modules (by subject and complexity) or 3 career track (by job skills).
  3. It offers a certificate after compliting the exams.
  4. There’s a Q&A Hub, a live space to get quick answers from both the experts’ team and the community.
  5. Help in building a resume and portfolio for applying for a new job related to data science.

365 Data Science Courses

All in all, right now there are 37 courses offered by 365 Data Science. Each one can be completed separately (as the payment is monthly based, not per course) or as a part of career track. All courses are self-paced.

Single courses are grouped by 4 modules:

  1. Data Science Fundamentals (13 courses including Data Strategy and Data Literacy, Data Analysis with Excel Pivot Tables, Statistics and Mathematics, Introduction to Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  2. Programming for Data Science (11 courses including SQL, Python Programmer Bootcamp, Introduction to R Programming, and some narrow topics within these programming languages)

365 Data Science Career Tracks

Career tracks are longer programs which are designed to prepare a person for a particular career. Each track is made of a chosen set of the courses mentioned above with an exam after each section.

The company offers 3 career tracks right now:

  • Data Scientist includes Statistics, Probability as well as Math; then it covers Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
  • Data Analyst is built around such topics as Excel, SQl, Statistics, and a few Python topics.
  • Business Analyst is focused on such topics as Data Strategy, Excel and Statistics.

Each career track is made up of 10 separate courses where 1-st one is optional, 7 core ones are required and the last 2 ones are elective (this means you can choose between 3 options). The total duration of each program is about 50 hours of video + quizess and exams. The main drawback of a free plan is that it gives access only to the first sections of each each course.

365 Data Science Reviews

There aren’t many users’ reviews about 365 Data Science, but some can still be found. Customers who have tried the courses or the program seem to be satisfied with the quality and the support. The majority of positive reviews on Trustpilot, Reddit, and Quora are submitted by people with no prior experience in data science; so, this platform is good for beginners. Also, many users say that the Q&A hub is very helpful as it’s like Stack Overflow for programmers.

Here is an example of a question submitted by the customer on the Q&A hub and an answer by the team member.

365 Data Science q&a

Here are some reviews that cover negative aspects.

This is not the best place to study. Test errors. Tests too difficult or ambiguous answers. There are also errors on the website – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. No mobile app. High price for the service.

“I took part in the free month campaign on 365datascience.com although I got to know little late about the free month. The courses offered are good, they share enough practical knowledge for you to start working in data science.”

“Everything is fine and content is amazing, well explained … One thing is missing which is more important the the last course exam that is project… Please add 3 mini projects in the course ending to make course more professional and industry oriented. For now it seem as i am taking university classes 😞.” The only complaints we have found out there were about the annual subscription which you cannot freeze.”

“An excellent platform which will provide you with theory aswell as practical examples. Great teachers and vizuals making it all easy to understand Sadly as far as I am aware there are no projects (yet). Would be nice to have that in the future!”

Competitors comparison

365DataScience vs Datacamp

Both providers (as it’s understood from the companies’ names) are focused on learning data science and related topics. They both generally cover such programming languages as Python and R and other topics like Statistics, SQL, Excel, Tableau and also both offer self-paced experience.

However, DataCamp has a wider list of different topics (over 330 courses) and more formats of learning, also the price here is lower ($12 per month).

Meanwhile, 365 Data Science is currently extending their course list, has exams to test your skills, and provides a useful option of an active q&a section.

Read whether Datacamp worth it in its review.

365 Data Science vs Dataquest

While the reviewed here company has a single all-in-one program, Dataquest offers 4 skills path for different learning directions (based on the future profession: Data Analyst, Data Scientist, and Data Engineer), one path teaches only one programming language, R or Python.

The price is almost at the same level (Dataquest costs $33.25/month billed annually); Dataquest doesn’t provide an option of buying a monthly subscription which is not convenient.

365DataScience vs Udemy

Those companies are quite different in terms of their approaches. Udemy offers everything, from data science courses to fitness classes. The quality of the content there really varies, some are very useful and some are quite poor. Each course depends on the instructor.

Also, Udemy has less practice and does not have some business cases as projects for using learned skills.

Finally, Udemy has a course-based payment, while other companies mentioned above have a monthly-based payment policy.

Is 365 Data Science worth it?

Data science is a very promising field, but it’s not for everyone, you need to have the right mindset for it and you need to love such work. If your aim is straightforward and you have decided to become a data scientist, this program is probably the best match. If are not sure yet, whether this career is for you, start with a single course or a few courses and try to solve some business-related issues by implying your new skills.
